“Vulnerability is the core of shame and fear and our struggle for worthiness, but it appears that it’s also the birthplace of joy, of creativity, of belonging, of love.” – Brené Brown

Most people have both a public and a private persona. When we are around others, we show a certain side of ourselves; when we are alone, we express another. But sometimes, if we are afraid of being judged and rejected, we create a public persona that is intended to make others like us, but which is false and inauthentic. The irony is that the very thing we are afraid of—that others will hurt or reject us – we actually do to ourselves by pretending to be someone we are not. Being inauthentic, in the long run, lowers our self-esteem, while expressing ourselves truthfully, which takes risk and courage, ultimately makes us stronger.

Rather than impress and conceal your true self, where and how can you express and reveal?

In order to manifest one’s true self, one must come to terms with one’s supposed shortcomings and accept them. To be happy with his mistakes anyway.
